Regular Spanish Verbs: Conjugation Rules

In Spanish there are three possibilities for the infinitive form of the verbs:
  1. Learn Spanish!!
Spanish verbs ending with -ar. Examples: cocinar, contar, jugar, coleccionar
  2. Spanish verbs ending with -er. Examples: leer, ver, ser, tener
  3. Spanish verbs ending with -ir. Examples: escribir, ir, salir, vivir
A verb belonging to one of the above categories can be regular or irregular. Just like in English, we have to know if a verb is regular or irregular and if it is irregular we need to memorize its conjugation unfortunately. If the verb is regular there are rules we can rely on. Based on the above division, the regular verbs are conjugated as follows

1. Conjugation: Regular Spanish Verbs ending with -ar
  • an example of this group is "trabajar" (to work). To conjugate the verb correctly, remove the ending -"ar" and put the green part below correspondingly.

(él/ella/usted)

(nosotros/nosotras)

(vosotros/vosotras)
